EXPERIENCE
David has a unique and diverse background as an employment lawyer and brings technical expertise to the analysis of legal problems, advising businesses concerning complex and novel legal issues including:
- termination of employment and general protections
- employee misconduct, employee statutory entitlements and the employer-independent contractor distinction
- the application of recent amendments to the Fair Work legislation.
He reviews and drafts employment contracts and policies and assists in the conduct of litigation, and separately conducts confidential workplace investigations into workplace misconduct allegations.
After working as the tipstaff for Justice Macfarlan of the Court of Appeal of the NSW Supreme Court in 2010, David commenced legal practice at a top tier law firm in 2011.
David has been seconded to the NSW Road Transport Association, fielding general inquiries from members and assisting in disputes in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. He has extensive experience undertaking legal research and drafting numerous publications.
He has broad employment experience, having worked in a legal and non-legal capacity at high levels in the Catholic Church in Sydney, including being on the personal staff of a senior public figure. He has also worked as a university academic and has published in academic and non-academic publications.
Graduating with first class honours in Law from the University of Sydney, where he received academic prizes, he has undertaken postgraduate coursework and completed a doctorate.
